August 20, 2009 -- In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the relationship between the World Trade Center Association’s World Trade Center University and Dunlap-Stone University’s International Import-Export Institute (IIEI), IIEI introduces the WTC-IIEI Scholarship Program for the 2009-2010 school year, created to make quality U.S. international trade higher education more affordable to World Trade Center employees. Employees of each of the over 300 worldwide World Trade Centers, regardless of location, can now attend Dunlap-Stone University’s (DSU) premiere online business school, the International Import-Export Institute. “This is very important program,” said Dr. Donald Burton, President of Dunlap-Stone University, “because the World Trade Centers play such an important role in global commerce. Making a world-class international trade-based business education available to their staff members will return huge dividends to their countries and their members.” By creating a dynamic and interactive online environment, courses grounded in both a professional and practitioner-based curriculum offer a common lexicon and a forum to learn and share best-practices in international trade, DSU’s online courses provide a convenient and standardized solution to higher education and training.

Equally important, noted Dr. Burton, is that WTC employees attend the IIEI online, allowing them to remain in their native country while they gain their education and training, continuing to serve in their posts at their local WTC.

This new scholarship reduces class tuition by 10% for any courses taken through the IIEI’s online campus, including premium courses which prepare professionals for any of the 14 international trade related certifications offered by the IIEI. The WTC-IIEI Scholarship also benefits WTC employees working towards DSU’s world-class Bachelor of Science in International Trade Management degree. Dr. Burton said that DSU is noted for having kept the cost of education amongst the lowest in the industry. The scholarship further reduces the cost of education, making it affordable to many more people.

Interested applicants must be able to read and write in the English language and have completed high school or the equivalent. For non-native speakers, an appropriate TOEFL score may be required. Students must also have reliable access to the Internet and the online classroom five days per the week to meet course requirements. All WTC employees, regardless of their country of residence or specific WTC location, are eligible to receive this scholarship. WTC employees who are interested in applying for one of these scholarships should visit DSU’s web site or contact Admissions for assistance. To qualify for this tuition reduction, applicants must provide a signed letter from their WTC’s director on local World Trade Center letterhead stating that they are a WTC employee. Dunlap-Stone University accepts equivalent transfer credits from higher education institutions throughout the world. The application deadline for the 2009-2010 WTC-IIEI Scholarship is December 31, 2009. Upon award, the individual scholarship may be renewed annually for up to five years if annual progress is made towards a degree or industry certification.

Founded in 1995, Dunlap-Stone University is a private Arizona for-profit corporation. DSU offers a premiere accredited Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade Management with three potential emphasis areas: Trade Compliance Management; Global Supply Chain Management, and Management. It is licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education as an online degree granting university.
