What exactly is Baby Music? Can we trust it?
Are babies like cows?
Is music good for babies? Okay, cows are supposed to benefit (us) from hearing music by producing more milk. But what`s all this about special music for babies?
In a thoughtful review at http://lovelybabycd.blogspot.com/, music educationalist Ian Marshall (BA, Med) asks the following questions.
Q. So what`s Baby Music?
A. Baby Music is music specially designed to suit babies.
Q. Doesn`t all music suit babies?
A. Not all music has the right sound or mood, and just putting on YOUR favourite CD might not fill the bill. Baby Music puts the baby first.
Q. So what`s special about Baby Music?
A. Baby Music is designed to express different moods in a simple way, with sounds that babies will instinctively `tune in` to.
Q. How do you mean, `instinctively`?
A. Babies cannot hear complex music the way we do. Baby Music is simple but direct. You know the kind of music you find `catchy` or relaxing.. Baby Music is equally catchy - or relaxing - for babies!
Q. How is that done?
A. Babies know about simple differences in what they hear in daily life: loud and soft, jingly and smooth, near and far, brief and lengthy, etc. Baby Music uses these simple contrasts that babies already understand.
Q. Who writes Baby Music?
A. Raimond Lap created the first and only original Baby Music series. His Lovely Baby CD s are sold in over 80 countries.
Q. What about the language used?
A. Babies don`t need lyrics yet! But music is a universal language
