DALLAS, TX – July 30, 2009 – The Aidmatrix Foundation (Aidmatrix) today announced the appointment of Kalpana Kaul as Executive Vice President, Aidmatrix India. Ms. Kaul will become director of a new office in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).
Kalpana previously served with the global organization Ashoka, where she was part of the core group that launched and built Ashoka's Changemakers program. In the past few years as the Asia Director and Managing Editor, she led the India/Asia strategy by building a global community network for social change, consisting of thought leaders and innovators from corporate, government, and university backgrounds. She also helped to develop the vision for the Changemakers program’s presence in Africa.
A development professional by trade, Kalpana has a career that spans several geographic locations and fields. She has combined field experience with research, activism, journalistic writing, editing, and relationship building. With Aidmatrix India, she will be focused on developing strategic plans, new partnerships, increasing industry sponsorships, and implementing communication and donor plans.
Kalpana will be the lead in the Kolkata office, the second Aidmatrix India office. The Aidmatrix expansion in India has been propelled with the launch of the Aidmatrix Network – India: Corporate Disaster Resource Network (CDRN), which is designed to encourage public and private sector partnerships for disaster relief. The recent launch of the CDRN was integral in the relief efforts for Hurricane Aila in May.
